Prior to joining Old Town IT, Rebecca was with the American Chemical Society (ACS) for 13 years, serving as the Association Management System (AMS) Program Manager. In this role, she worked with a team of project managers, business analysts, and developers to implement new functionality for their clients.

Under her direction, ACS has been the recipient of multiple Avectra Users and Developers Conference Innovations Awards: in 2010 for Best Member Experience using eWeb, in 2011 for Most Radical Change to Business Process and in 2012 for the redesign of the Online Member Application and the “Member-get-a-Member” program. Before working for the American Chemical Society, Rebecca was at the National Pool and Spa Institute and the Capital City Club.

Achurch is experienced in both waterfall and agile project management, a Program Management Professional (PgMP), Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), and is agile certified and a Certified Association Executive (CAE). She graduated from DePauw University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and a minor in Philosophy.

Alexandria, VA, August 29, 2013 - Old Town IT has moved its headquarters office space to Old Town Alexandria, Virginia from its previous location in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria. The new office, located in the Washington Square Building, accommodates the firm’s growing team with a unique configuration that allows for personal workstations as well as collaboration spaces, call rooms and conference rooms, and a web-cam video feed that connects office locations across the United States.

plus7/1/13: Old Town IT’s Springfield, MO Office Hires Four New Employees

Alexandria, VA, July, 1 2013 - Old Town IT has hired Dan Turner, Josh Brown, Adam Neal and Rob Sapko to join the firm’s Professional Services team. The new software engineers will work out of the Springfield, MO office and were hired as a result of the company’s growth in 2013.

The engineers will contribute to delivering client project work, focusing on extending current functionality and data integrations for AMS projects as well as working on user interface optimization and data analytics projects.

While at Jack Henry & Associates, Dan Turner developed large scale ASP.NET applications in his role as an Advanced Programmer Analyst and Software Engineer. Turner graduated with honors from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology degree in Computer Programming.

Josh Brown previously served as an Application Programmer at NorthStar Battery, where he improved data collection and process management. While working full time, Brown earned his Associate Degree in Applied Sciences – Computer Information Science from Ozarks Technical Community College.

Prior to his position at Old Town IT, Adam Neal worked as an Advanced Software Engineer at Jack Henry & Associates, where he created custom enterprise software. Neal graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems from Arkansas Tech University.

Rob Sapko served as Engineering Manager and Software Developer at Paperwise before coming to Old Town IT. Sapko holds degrees in Math, Computer Information Science and Computer Animation from Missouri Southern State University and Missouri State University, respectively.

Alexandria, VA, March 1, 2013 – Old Town IT announces the launch of a new Technology Consulting Division and has hired Thad Lurie as Managing Director to lead the effort.

The Technology Consulting Division will provide guidance to associations and nonprofit organizations on the infrastructure, systems, tools, and processes required to help them grow their organizations. Lurie will lead the consulting team in developing plans to help clients utilize the most innovative technology resources that align with their mission, strategy, and operational budgets.

As Managing Director, Lurie will guide operations of Old Town IT’s Technology Consulting Division and will structure the new division to help organizations proactively manage the evolving changes in the technology and member engagement landscape. As part of the firm’s management team, he will also contribute to the stewardship of Old Town IT’s internal technology resources.

“As a leader in of the association technology space, Old Town IT is widely acknowledged as an innovative and resourceful service provider. Prior to joining Old Town IT, Lurie held positions with the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) and the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA). As chief information officer at AWEA, he developed technology strategies to align with the association's business objectives and played a critical role in assessing business needs and providing elegant technology solutions. Lurie was also responsible for a complete transformation of the IT department--revamping the hardware infrastructure, upgrading almost all major business applications, and refocusing the unit on a more service-oriented approach.

During his tenure at AHLA, Lurie was responsible for internal and external technology systems, budgeting, and strategic planning. He directed operations for a Microsoft SharePoint-based public-facing ecommerce website that fully integrated with AHLA’s customer relationship management database and accounting software. As a member of AHLA’s executive team, Thad provided leadership and vision for the development and implementation of information technology initiatives and policy while serving as liaison to the board of directors and a number of other committees.

Lurie currently serves as a board member on the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) Technology Council and is a frequent presenter and author for ASAE, Association Media and Publishing, and the SharePoint community. He is a Certified Association Executive and Certified Information Professional.

Lurie holds Bachelor’s Degrees in psychology and philosophy from the University of Rochester and a Master's Degree in education from the University of Hartford. He lives in Fairfax, Virginia, with his wife and three children.

Alexandria, VA, February 1, 2013 – Old Town IT announces that Andrew Huling, Tim Franklin, and Chad Boschert have joined the firm as Senior Software Engineers.

As Senior Software Engineers, Huling, Franklin, and Boschert will contribute to client project work as well as Old Town IT’s research and development efforts. They will focus on data infrastructure and integration for netFORUM implementations and user interface and integration aspects for data analytics projects.

Prior to joining Old Town IT, Andrew Huling led the infrastructure team at GameChanger, where he and his group were responsible for building, maintaining, and scaling the company's cloud infrastructure, APIs, and database to support thousands of simultaneous users. Huling started his career as a software engineer at Cvent before moving to Avectra, where he worked on the development of Avectra's flagship netFORUM product. From there, he formed Effici, a technology consulting company specializing in building and operating on-demand web solutions for commercial enterprises, government agencies, and non-profit organizations. Huling graduated from Harvard University with Artium Baccalaureatus and Scientiae Magister Degrees in Computer Science.

“Andrew Huling brings stellar software development skills, proven entrepreneurial experience and a passion for optimizing business ecommerce tools to Old Town IT. He will play a key role in creating new member engagement and other business offerings for our clientele,” said Tim Ward, President at Old Town IT.

Tim Franklin comes to Old Town IT from Jack Henry & Associates, where, as an Advanced Software Engineer, he developed large scale .NET web applications for both internal and external customers and helped to guide the department’s technology and methodology advancement. Franklin worked for several years as a software developer, primarily writing large scale Windows Forms applications, including a completely custom and robust intranet instant messenger. He has deep experience in Photoshop, CSS, and responsive mobile-friendly design and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems from Missouri State University’s Honors College.

“Tim Franklin’s unique amalgam of skill sets and breadth of experience will be of great value to Old Town IT as we develop our member engagement suite. Before coming to Old Town IT, Chad Boschert founded Queen City Software, a consulting firm in Springfield, Missouri, and served as the Research and Development Team Lead at PaperWise, a document management and workflow software company. Boschert also worked as a Senior Programmer at Data Link, where he developed custom solutions in addition to designing and implementing internal process and workflow applications. Boschert was selected as a member of the “20 Under 30” class of 2011 by 417 Magazine and has held a variety of leadership positions with the Springfield.NET Users Group. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems from Missouri State University.
